Brooks Michael, Parent Education Coordinator

Brooks Michael joined the council in January 2007 as the Parent Education Coordinator. She teaches the Guiding Good Choices and Staying Connected with Your Teens Parenting Programs in various locations throughout the valley including churches, schools, YMCAs, and civic organizations. These evidence- based parenting programs focus on building protective factors around youth in grades 3rd-12th as they face the challenges of adolescence. Brooks is also the Adolescent Health Educator with Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the Roanoke and Salem Prevention Planning Teams, the Better Beginnings Coalition, and RAYSAC. She comes from a grant-writing and health education background, and enjoys working with teens and their families to help them make the transition from childhood to adulthood as safely and productively as possible.
