Nancy joined the Council in the fall of 2001 as a parent volunteer. And she hasn’t left yet! She began with the Council at a time when the sole focus of the group was on administering the Guiding Good Choices parent education program. She hosted both parent classes and the Train the Trainer workshops. Then in Fall 2004, she became involved in the local prevention conference that launched the family day dinner—9 years later it is still going strong. She ascended to the level of Council Coordinator in the spring of 2005, coordinating the Council’s grant efforts through the DFC support program. As a parent of 3 Roanoke county youth, she is deeply invested in the health of our local community. Nancy sits on the board of Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center, and the Salem Family YMCA Board; she sat on the Board of CHIP for 6 years. Nancy guided the council through the second phase of the DFC in 2008, when the Council secured its own 501(c)3 status, and was instrumental in securing the Council’s “Got Outcomes!” award 2010. She ascended to the level of Executive Director in 2011.
